Findings. Temperatures increase as one gets closer to the equator (latitude of 0).

The relationship between maximum temperature (F) and latitude is negative in the northern hemisphere (n=385; slope = -0.53; r^2 = 0.48; p-value < 0.001) and positive in the southern hemisphere (n=185; slope = 0.74; r^2 = 0.58; p-value < 0.001).
